Lady Green Garden Centre
Finally some non-essential shops were allowed to open; among them one of the British institutions - garden centres. We took straight to the nearest at the nearest opportunity, after sitting on our balcony for most of 12 weeks lockdown.
What a relief, it was. We were truly grateful to the wonderful government for allowing them to open and us common people, to visit. Garden centres are located on the outskirts of towns and villages, they are more like a visitors centres for an appreciation of nature and decorative art. You walk in and marvel, and relax, sip coffee with a muffin in a café and then you realise you may buy things.
Lady Green is situated in little village of Ince Blundell but with a good transport link, near A565, halfway between Crosby and Formby, north of Liverpool.
We have visited Lady Green in May 2020, on one of the first days when the garden centres were given a green light to open after the Covid-caused complete lockdown of four weeks. There was a small que an everybody was given instructions how to navigate through.
Some areas were inaccessible, including the café due to new rules of physical distancing. After the seasonal shopping display so many people were keen to get their hands on, we entered the proper garden with absolutely adorable views.
This is probably the best mix of seeing beautiful plants and outlets of human creativity in the manner of the traditional English school of gardening, with some twists such as the lorry truck below.
We spent here around an hour, walking all the multiple garden alleys, contemplating the classic designs and of course looking for a plants to buy. Almost everybody got their fingers green in the lockdown. There was quite a variety and the prices were not too dear.
The English Garden Centre is a must visit, there is nothing like it in Poland, yet. Busy shopping malls offer plants and garden gear, but this is nothing to compare. What a great May day out, for the senses and for chilling out with this lazy option to buy or not to buy.
