Unique-One: Liverpool Beatles Museum

Liverpool Beatles Museum, located on the world famous Mathew Street, just a few second away from the Cavern Club, where the Beatles started their magnificent career opened in July 2018.

The well presented and very personal collection is unique and only - a tireless work of
Roag Aspinall-Best, having close ties to the Beatles' extended family and friends.

Neil Aspinall, a road manager first, later - a confidante to all Fab Four, and eventually the head of their business branch - Apple Corps - was Roag’s father.

Pete Best, playing drums with the Beatles between 1960-1962 - in their important formative years, is Roag’s brother.

Probably one of the most important people to John, Paul and George in those early years was Roag's mother - Mona Best. She was the founder of the first rock'n'roll venue in Liverpool - Casbah Coffee Club, and rightfully she has been named the “Mother of the Mersey Beat”. There is a beautiful memory wall dedicated to her. You will not find so many personal Beatles memoires anywhere else in the world.

There is a very special feeling when you enter the museum, indeed - it does have a very warm, familial touch. But the people engaged in the museum actively seek new items and almost miraculously - find them.

We had a pleasure to participate in the revealing of a painting that has a very interesting connections to John Lennon.

His art college and lifelong friend, Jon Hague painted it in 1984 (four years after John's death). It is a version of the original (of which location is unknown) that was bought by John himself in the mid sixties for around £50 000.

The revealing was in September 2021; John's half-sister, Julia Baird (upper left) did an excellent introduction and together with Roag(upper left, bottom right) they unveiled the painting.
