A forgotten soundtrack by George Harrison and Ringo Star
World premiere of an unknown song by two members of The Beatles.
In Liverpool, the hometown of The Beatles, took place the world premiere of the song “Radhe Shaam”, recorded 53 years ago by guitarist George Harrison, drummer Ringo Starr, and Indian singer Aashish Khan.
The song was found in the collection of the music producer, Suresh Joshi (a veteran journalist and broadcaster with a host of credits including radio programme such as 'Geet Mala' on LBC Radio and Radio Luxemburg’s 'Station of the Stars'), recorded on July 31, 1968 at the Trident studio in London, while the famous four were recording Hey Jude.
George and Ringo joined Suresh's project during hiatus, and it was the first time they had both composed anything outside of The Beatles.
This is definitely a treat for all music fans, not just the Beatles.
The song is available on music platforms, following its morning premiere at the Liverpool Beatles Museum and BBC Merseyside radio.
The income from the sale is donated to charity.
