How Amazon tricks People into paid subscriptions

You want to register with amazon* to purchase a single item, like two rings - in our case. You make sure to click off any paid membership, and you make sure you are not tricked into something you don't want and need. Lovely.

You get your items, not on any amazon Prime, like next day delivery. Just a few days later, we have patience, no rush.

We get the rings.

Lovely.

No worries.

In the meantime amazon offers a FREE Kindle experience. All right then, why not?
Let's see what this buzz is all about.

You log onto the account ONCE, to browse those Kindle books, and choose only those that are for free. Just to have a snapshot of how this works, how the books in the Kindle format look like.

Lovely.

You forget about amazon Kindle as this is rather poor quality to read. And that's it. It is the FREE option, anyway.

Four months later, you log in to our bank account** and...

... this is what happens:

You find out that you have been charged £8.99 for amazon Prime and £7.99 for Kindle Unlimited

Not lovely.

Below is the chat-box we have experienced with amazon.

Apparently this situation is since 2017, and we have heard a lot about similar experiences. We've thought this has been a sort of malfunction and have been restored to a proper customer experience - that those days of tricking people into something obscure are long past...

Now - the above answer - 'Cancel Prime' - was forced - there were three options to choose from, and this one was the closest one. You could not just type in whatever you wanted.

So do not be intimidated by having only limited options to answer. Fight for your right.

Almost a third of Which? members have accidentally signed up to Amazon Prime, with many only realising when they later checked their bank statement, according to a recent survey.

So, what do you think. This procedure goes back years. Yet they still have the cheek to write that this is an EXCEPTION - JUST FOR ME/US.

How would you like to be treated like this. This is nothing else but deliberate cheating. How do we allow this company to thrive?

Of course, it does deliver services. But at what costs? How many people simply cancelled their accounts because they had no time or courage or knowledge to get their STOLEN money back? They are simply ripped off.

What a fecking shame, Amazon.

We quit, entirely. Do you?

Do you subscribe to this form of cheating? Is your moral integrity safe and sound?
You may have an absolutely wonderful experience with amazon. Let us know!

** We log in more frequently but these monthly payments have just been missed out on the sporadic look. Yes, shame. Look into your bank account with fierce precision, especially if you are going to use such services like amazon.
